Maryland may be best known for crabcakes and football,

but it also is home to a number of music legends who have exemplified and shaped their respective genres. Jazz singer Billie Holiday hails from Maryland, as does pioneering doo wop group, The Orioles, to name a few. Maryland also is home to the Merriweather Post Pavilion, a large outdoor music venue designed by Frank Gehry after which a contemporary pop band, Animal Collective, named its eighth album. Country duo Brothers Osborne and hip-hop star Logic also hail from this music-rich state.
